Slavery
At the entrance there was a statement that said something like 'Each and every person should be informed about slavery and the sort of tortures given to the slaves during older times...specially the tortures undergone by people from Africa'
I don't know where to start from. From when Africa was discovered, Europeans were awestruck! They couldn't figure out how to borrow, steal or exploit the riches in their nature. They started one by one, not only with spices, grains, oils and gold but they also wanted to buy or just take away the people as their 'Slaves' such that their lives were enriched.
Slaves not even maids.. they were called slaves and they were assured of getting back one thing from their masters at some point of time while discharging their duties- 'Insult'. They were carried in large cruises, dumped in them to be transported to various other places like UK, Spain, Denmark, Portugal, France, Germany, North America,South America, The Caribbean Islands etc.
Liverpool was the capital or the junction of slavery..mainly because slaves (according to me 'naive people') were brought form Africa... held at Liverpool and transported to the west..across the Atlantic to North, South America and the Caribbean Island for helping the local or the immigrant European's life easy.
Slave trading was such a big trade that there are statistics of 1 million plus slaves sent to the Americas in the 13th century, 2+ million in 14th, 4+ million in 15 century and it went on to 6+, 7+ million toward 19th century. HOLD ON...this statement FREAKED ME OUT. My blood was pumping more than usual!
They were harassed, treated badly, dumped like animals, exploited like machines, insulted, not cared for at many occasions.
After improvising the European cities, towns with the help of naive people, after getting all their personal/domestic work done, after having attained a comfortable life because of them, after obtaining a bright future for their kids... is this what they should do? Isn't there anything called empathy?
Beyond all this the worst thing is the misuse of 'Race'. Slaves were reminded and cursed that they had to suffer due to their race..they weren't good due o the race, they were not beautiful due to the race and what not... pick up a weak point..and that was pointed out at thier race..the so called 'coloured phenomenon'. Didn't they have heart and feelings like everyone else?
I'd like to conclude this sensitive topic by writing a statement that was said by a slave (a naive and a great man) and which is recorded in the museum 'The masters own/buy/hire us in order to improvise their cities, their homes, their workplace in order to have better life for themselves, their children, their family, their friends, their society.'
Does your memory amuse you?

First Impressions
How far are the first impressions about people true? Does one believe in them these days? Is the first impression still the best impression? I don't think so. People are very complex. A man who is gentle could turn out into someone very aggressive or an aggressive man's aggression could just be under the surface to go BOOM which wouldn't be noticed during the first impressions!! The smarter/ cleverer the person, the tougher it gets to form an impression, the curve goes exponential! But its human tendancy to form opinions, to judge people, to have a first impression, it doesnt matter if you are right or wrong!

The Old Cobbler
I once bought fancy looking slip ons from a posh place in Bangalore. I loved it and I almost wore it everyday to office. I also got compliments for it. After a while it wasn't so new so I would run with those slip ons , wear it in the rain and basically rough handled it. It so happened that one of them got torn. I was like.... "damn... we pay so much and it doensn't even last long!!!" Thankfully there was a small cobbler kiosk near my office, actually right opposite to my office. There was a middle aged man and I gave him my torn slip on. While he was mending it I remembered my childhood days. Back then we visited the cobblers quite often as against the present times where we have too many shoes and discard the torn ones immediately.
But I had no other go. I had to get back to work and there was no shoe shop close by and had to get my shoe mended. This middle aged cobbler made a shabby fix and asked me for ten rupees.I was not so happy to give him ten for the job he did but anyway he didn't ask for a fortune, it was just ten rupees.I gave it to him and got back to work.
A week later the other slip on got torn in the same place. I was cursing these shoe makers for making delicate shoes and tagging them with high prices. Again the same solution. I walked to the same cobbler kiosk.
Now this time there was a very old cobbler. He looked very weak, was wearing torn clothes and his glasses were so big that I almost concluded that he was blind.I thought this old cobbler might be the middle aged cobbler's father! Since I was unhappy the previous time I just thought I would ask this old cobbler to stitch it a bit more nicely but then I looked at his innocent face and something stopped me at once!!!
He started mending my slip on slowly. While he did that I peeked inside his kiosk. Saw some photos of God and a big photo of a lady who was young and vibrant. Her photo had kumkum and garland which meant she was no more. I was thinking whether she was the cobbler's wife or daughter. Who ever she was, she was someone dear to the cobbler. I felt quite bad for him. Then he interrupted me saying he mended my slip on.
I just had a look at it. It was done so well, so really well that I was taken aback. The half blind, weak cobbler wearing torn clothes and having the grief of losing an important woman in his life mended my shoe so well. I thought for a moment that if I had instructed him before I would've been ashamed of myself.I would've hurt his feelings so much!! I gave him ten rupees staight away. Then he said its only five rupees and started digging his box for change. I looked at him and said I don't want the change, smiled at him, said thank you and left. He was confused. While I was walking back to the office I had a great urge to go back to him and give him more money like a charity but he seemed like a shy old cobbler. I was unsure about him accepting it. But by giving him more than what he asked for made me so contented.
When I sat on my chair at office I felt the old cobbler has touched my life by showing his perseverence, simplicity and innocence. I had tears in my eyes and then I worked peacefully.

The Tube
But why is it called a tube.It was always a wonder for me as to why it is called "The Tube" or "Tubes" and the station called the "Tube Station". I figured it out due to my curiosity and it goes this way.... London has a large connectivity of trains underground and the tunnels look like tubes running here and there and so are the trains... they are so rounded off that they look like tubes... hence the name.. Its so simple :) This picture shows the present day tube platforms.

Well the londoners can really boast about their tube history because the metro project started off way back in the 1800s.It is so hard to imagine men carrying those heavy materials to dig the tubes in various levels and connect them. London has had overground as well as underground tubes way back in the 1800s and currently serves 268 stations by rail! Have a look at this picture which shows the metro construction during the early 1800s.

The underground station has subsurfaces and deep level classifications. You can travel to different places by taking tubes for different lines/routes in different storeys! The tube stations in london have Europe's longest escalators to reachout to the deepest railway track. Isn't that amazing!!This is the present day picture of the
escalator at angel station. Not to forget the point where tubes were saviours for civilians in the world war era.The authorities in London, after being put under pressure from public, did make use of about 80 underground Tube stations to house about 177,000 people. Back ,those lines were not electrified so the people could sit on the rails, keep their belongings and sleep peacefully in tube stations with their families.Hence, the tubes have helped millions during the world war.
There used to be a very sweet marketing strategy for the early birds to try out london metro. Have a look at this picture and read the message "Swift and Sure" :)

These days in london metro/tube stations, people make the place dirty by spilling out their drink, leaving newspapers on the chairs and stuff like that. There are also some negatives like delays in train, escalators being closed for a while but the bright side of these tubes should never be forgotten. In my eyes "The Tube" is still a wonderful achievement by man on earth.

The monster in you
But when the wave builds up to the size of a monster then you blurt it out... and then what happens??? anger, denial, difference of opinion... and then the cycle goes on ...the monster becomes big and small .... big and small...
Now this monster is quite dangerous and it can also change its form....say from a wave to a creeper...it builds inside you like a creeper... if not cut at the roots it can trouble you more!!
And then you'll never really know if its you talking or the monster called EGO.

Back to Square One
Remember the Famous nursery rhyme
Jack and Jill went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water
Jack fell down and broke his crown
And Jill came tumbling after
So this message teaches you …way back in your childhood that sometimes (or most of the times) you get back to square one!!! As in…. Back to the beginning…Starting point…Back to zero… Start from scratch
How does it feel getting back to square one –AWFUL!!! Cuz who likes to do the rework… or take a new path…a different path of uncertainty….
Some back to square ones are like Déjà vu. A compelling sense of familiarity…something eerie… something strange while some back to square ones are so much “In your faces” that you feel.. heyyy what the hell??? I worked so hard for it…..where’s my pay back.... hard luck buddy… I mean do u like to believe that you are not in level 2 or 3 but in the same level 1… oh no….
So now you all know how AWFUL it could be…. I’d like to close my blog with the rhyme again
Jack and Jill went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water
Jack fell down and broke his crown
And Jill came tumbling after

A teacher called Life
Lemme explain the hard part-The older you grow, the greater the responsibilities, greater expectations
It works like this- You grow old, you've got to make less mistakes...... suppose you make silly mistakes you'd be asked to grow up and if you make big mistakes/blunders.... you are reminded of how old you are and how you could do that!!!
So all these factors add to stress and a lot of stress.
There are so many equations and dynamics to reach out in order to cherish your existence but the hard teacher called life makes your syllabus harder and harder everytime...travelling at the speed of light to trick you not to understand how the whole stuff works in order to see that you learn something till the day you say good bye!!

B-O-R-E-D
There have been a million times when i've been bored..ask me where... "at
office"...bored to walk to my cubicle, bored to walk in the aisle to my seat, bored to
go to the rest room, bored to come out of it!!!GoD!! I think sometimes... the word boredom emerged from the office...
The best is to have generous amount of work or else do you know the symptoms of
boredom???
phone break, coffee break, water break, hot water break, loo break, messenger breaks,
browsing breaks, browse.... and you promise yourself not to browse and simultaneously
open the browser.... contradictions are highly appreciated in this world..y not!!!
wanna know what could be a red alert for boredom symptom..snack snack snack... ..eat
chocolate, buy and eat, store and eat, go out and eat.... and eat more stuff...all but
junk...
Anoter virus of boredom has emerged and its just not ready to leave its mark on the IT
industry..RECESSION...job threat... no bonus ..no hike....and when you ask for them..the most common dialogue just pops out of everyone's mouth... "hey ,you are lucky to have a job, so be happy" (yaa...watever!!!)
After all this you would have just made up your mind to work but the goddess of sleep
comes running to bless you....and you guys can guess that i'll stop writing now....
snore ..snore...zzz...zzz

Ken-Few-Zen
it that way cuz it depicts confusion in a very ken-few-zing way. There's "ken-few-zen"
and that's why I can't get the spelling right
Now, in our day-to-day lives, we've wasted a lot of time, money and energy due to
confusion. Not just at the workplace, but confusion messes up
relationships too and not to forget the way we deal and put things across.
Each one of us would have had a thousand or millions of messy experiences due to
confusion.
Lets' see how...
Confused to say yes to go to a party, choosing jobs, choosing a partner, on shopping
etc...
Now look at this one...in a hotel, we order some food... we take time and order..its
our order... and when the waiter serves our food, we look at the opposite table and get
a feeling that those guys are having a merrier time eating their food... Jesus
Christ!!! Isn't that silly :P
Similar situation happens with our cell phones, accessories, jewels, home decor and it slowly leads to "Envy" or
"Jealousy"....Its not good to be too jealous or too envious but
I've studied a lot of ppl being tat way..oh oh ...u better not....it just doesn't make you
happy :(
My side of confusion is.. should I report at office tat I'm leaving a bit early or no... should I
tell my boss tat I took a huge break from work and was time-passing :D
Should I serve another spoon of rice..to fill me...should I eat that pastry
cuz I'm too tempted (and I end up eating it and put on so many calories)
In my courtship... should I go meet my guy today or should I impress my parents by
staying at home :D oh god!!!! this ken-few-zen has eaten me up several times
At Examz... ahhhh.. should I choose this option or that..which is right... should I
take more time to answer the same question or should I move on... it goes on and on....
So guyzzz ..my message is ...keep your Confusion at a minimum...cuz that minimum makes
a huge difference in our decision making and if it goes high and eats you up...then
...you know... you'll be a loser.

Silent Saviours and Amazing Adaptors
always make me happy.I guess this is the common opinion across many minds. The moment I think of trees, I think of green...the colour that soothes the eye...
against red.. the colour that disturbs the eye.
Mankind has to be ever grateful to the trees or I'd like to call them the "SILENT
SAVIOURS" who really balance the earth. They give us the basics, oxygen, food, shelter....they give us the most precious basics for living....
Our Silent Saviours could be an example for many more things like
-Being Productive- they process food althrough the day, "Everyday" and that's a great
value
-They shine bright in the scorching sun- so we know what we have to learn from them :)
-They withstand the rain.. as much as possible..
Apart from being the Silent Saviours they are AMAZING ADAPTORS, they adapt to the sun,
rain, wind and the worst part people cutting them down for no reason.
Forget forest fires, these days you can see humans burn trees for civilization and
having a greater city.
These days there have been increasing numbers of trees being cut down either to provide
toilet papers, premium tissues where people just pull it up and throw it into a bin as
if it were a game, pull it out, touch on ur skin and throw...tat's a bit funny or a
lot funny or for "metro in bangalore" (this is where I live)... so that they make the
city a dusty, dry, hot and chaotic place. Summer seems to be hotter every year!!!!
For me trees are wonder creatures and I'm happy I wrote a blog on them as I'm so
grateful to them. But i'm also sad at the rate of their destruction.
Maybe they should change to be the mighty ones.. maybe they should have known to defend themselves when humans cut them down irrationally because I'm afraid that Herbert Spencer-Charles Darwin's theory "SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST" is true in every era and if trees are not the fittest or the mightiest, they'll lose SPACE on this earth and soon we'll lose ours too!!!

Weird World or You
First of all, let us get clear on what weird means...answers???
- strange
- unusual
- odd
- funny
bugging him more than usual or driving him insane
Example-
- Go to the market on a monday and to reassure your hard luck , the market youtravelled for an hour remains closed on monday... you mumble that it wasn't that way before and they brought it down without your notice
- Stand in a queue for hours together either to get tickets for a movie or pay your bills or even wait for your turn to pray to god in the temple.. there is always someone who is better off at luck , who very smoothly passes through without struggling as much as you did , uses influence in temples in a better way, tricks you in the line to pay the bill... and you are like.."hey wait a minute... it's my turn at the billing counter " OR "hey moron, i was in the queue for darshan and i need to see god first...stop posing as a VIP" and you know that your voice isn't heard....
The world seems weird when you think you are perfectly al right, you are behaving
nicely, adhering to all the rules but the "other people" or rather the "system" might
be TOTALLY WEIRD.
To talk more bout people acting weird...
- A person, who normally talks nicely to you appears "lip sealed" the next time you meet him/her.. and you wont know why he/she is behaving that way..(this is weird)..had such an experience??
- A relative of yours acts very plastic (imitated expressions and forced gestures) all of a sudden and you are like..hello what's wrong (weirdo :D)
- Your child suddenly becomes cranky and emotional and you're like what the hell
- Most of the nicest people have to deal with weirdos day-in and day-out
- You go out of your way to help someone and that person turns his back on you
- You do your best to impress your peers, someone else is enjoying all the attention very easily
After doing all the blame game, is the world weird or is that YOU who is really weird
You would know that you were w-e-i-r-d only after "Realization"
for example
- Eat even when you aren't hungry but just that you want to be greedy ..so tat no one else gets to eat
- Fight with your mum like crazy for all that pent up anger at office
- Fight with you sibling just because you wan2 fight and be a bully
- Act funny with friends and have assertive talks and later someday realise...hey I was a weirdo...
- Argue with your partner for asking one more question for which an answer would have demanded less energy than an arguement which almost drained you off (you sick WEIRDO)
So I'd like to say its a weird weird world with weird people, weird rules and weird
equations. Its kinda tricky... you know..wherther the world was weird or the people made it WeIrD!!!
